Abstract
Electrical stimulation by direct current (Tdcs) has been cited as a great benefit technique in the rehabilitation of neurological patients, as it appears as a way to modulate cortical activity by opening a passageway to increase and prolong the functional gain promoted by physical therapy. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of the treadmill training combined with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over motor cortex bilaterally on gait and balance in an adult with choreoathetoid cerebral palsy. Ten sessions (20 minutes, five times per week) of anodal tDCS over Cz during treadmill training was performed in an adult aged 27 years old, with a diagnosis of choreoathetoid cerebral palsy. Two evaluations (before and after) were performed, involving gait analysis, static and functional balance. The patient had a clinical improvement in gait pattern, static balance and functional balance. There was a better symmetry in the kinematic of the lower limbs, an increase in gait speed, and reductions in the oscillations of the center of pressure with open eyes. We believe that the combination of anodal tDCs and treadmill training made an important contribution to the motor improvement observed in this case.

Key words: Gait, Brain Stimulation, Cerebral Palsy.
