Correlation between Lipid Profile and Skinfold thickness measurement in patients with coronary artery diseases.

Abstract
To determine the correlation between lipid profile and skinfold thickness measurement in patients with
coronary artery diseases. 50 males and females (30-55 years old) with coronary artery diseases having
their lipid profile reports were selected. Percentage body fat using skinfold caliper, BMI & Waist to hip
ratio was assessed and lipid profile report was documented. Pearson's correlation coefficient reported a
weak correlation between components of lipid profile(TC, TG, LDL& HDL) and percentage body fat. P
value also showed that no significant relation between lipid profile and percentage body fat existed.
As no significant correlation was seen between total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein and
low density lipoprotein with percentage body fat, BMI & WHR, authors would like to conclude that patients
with CAD having high percentage body fat in the form of subcutaneous adipose tissue may not
necessarily have hyperlipidemia and vise versa.
